Sustainability & Supply Chain

We recognise our role in helping to enable and drive the transition in the real economy, and in supporting Scotland’s leading role in the transition with its ambitious net zero target by 2045.

We’re working towards an ambitious set of commitments to change the way we operate as a business and help accelerate our plans to tackle climate change:

Recognising also the carbon emissions generated through our supply chain we have set an ambition to reduce the emissions from our suppliers by 50% by 2030. We are committed to engaging our suppliers, working collaboratively to tackle climate change and accelerate our own transition to net zero. Working with our key suppliers, we are engaging with them to:

  1. Ensuring that climate change is embedded within the strategy and governance of their organisation.
  2. Understand their carbon emissions generated in the provision of good and services to the bank.
  3. Collaborate with us to help us reduce our environmental impacts.
  4. Understand and mitigate the risks that climate change poses to their business.
  5. Understand the ethical and sustainability – related practice of their supply chain in order to either collaborate on best practice or offer support on improvements where appropriate.

Why a member?

Supporting & helping Scottish businesses achieve Net Zero offers opportunities for investment, innovation, job creation & earnings. Two-thirds of SMEs view the move to a greener economy, not just a challenge to be met, but a positive opportunity for growth.

Greening the financial system will be a fundamental enabler to the transition to a Net Zero economy. We are dedicated to playing a leading role in this challenge and through our membership of Scottish Business Climate Collaboration (SBCC), we saw this as a fantastic opportunity to extend our reach and work with other like-minded Scottish companies in helping businesses in Scotland better understand the risks and opportunities associated with climate change.

The opportunity to support a just transition to a net zero carbon economy in Scotland by 2045 through embedding the necessary sustainability skills & knowledge for the future through SBCC’s partnership with the Supply Chain Sustainability School seemed a very practical way of achieving this.
